We received the award of excellence from the 8th “Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award”
Our technology of “Method For Recycling solar cell module glass” won the award of excellence of the 8th “Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award” for its technology
“Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award”
“Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award” is conducted by Japanese four ministries; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
The Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award is a program to recognize outstanding individuals from various generations engaged in monodzukuri (manufacturing). Winners can be mid-career individuals playing key roles in manufacturing and production, masters supporting traditional or cultural arts, or young people expected to play leading roles in the future of monodzukuri. The award has been jointly organized by METI, MLIT, MHLW, and MEXT every other year since 2005 and took place for the eighth time this year.
The four organizing ministries decided on 37 individuals and one organization (15 projects) as winners of the Prime Minister’s Prize. In addition to these winners, METI selected 123 individuals and one organization (22 projects) as winners of the METI Minister’s Prize, 7 individuals (1 project) as winners of the Special Prize, and 106 individuals (18 projects) as winners of the Excellence Prize.
It is said that it is difficult to recycle solar cell module glass containing harmful substances such as antimony. However, we had been researching and developed the safe and secure recycling technology of detoxification of solar cell module glass (applying for international patent), thus, solar cell module glass can be recycled into the glass foamed material “Porous Alpha”.
Porous Alpha has been introduced in Japan and overseas as a multipurpose product for water purification, deodorization, and soil conditioning (improving aeration and water retention of the soil).
We will continue to develop and disseminate this technology through attending exhibitions, concluding the Strategic Partnership Agreement with Marubeni Group and so on toward the practical application of recycling of solar cell module glass by using this technology.
